Most of us who recovered with AA's program did so with the help of a "sponsor". But what is sponsorship? How do I get one? Who can be a sponsor? What makes a good sponsor?

Re: Al-Anon

Good point owell, there is nothing that says our sponsor has to be in mainline AA. I have met some Al-Anon members who I believe would make a fine sponsor.

Congrats on the 30 years, I am 69 and first had my opportunity at AA more than thirty years ago. Being a hard headed individual however I was in and out until I turned 60, at which time I finally surrendered and did those steps. If only I had believed that life would be as good as this after, I would have done the work when first given the opportunity, and would be joining you in the 30+ years club.

Nice to have you here with us on the forums.
