Re: April 8th Daily Reflection

"We want to find exactly how, when, and where our natural desires have warped us. We wish to look squarely at the unhappiness this has caused others and ourselves. By discovering what our emotional deformities are, we can move toward their correction." The Big Book outlines an inventory pr...

We may have several different behaviors and "bottoms" but our thinking is quite the same./quote] So true Paige. And if I may add to your above comment........Although I did share some of those behaviors with others (trouble at home, trouble with the law, trouble at work) when I heard them...

Re: April 6th Daily Reflection

We were having trouble with personal relationships, we couldn't control our emotional natures, we were a prey to misery and depression, we couldn't make a living, we had a feeling of uselessness, we were full of fear, we were unhappy, we couldn't seem to be of real help to other people. . . . — ALC...

Re: Just being in the Gyms Lobby and expecting results analogy!

That's what I would look at anytime I had these kinda gripes coming up, is which one of those guys am I. The second guy is my definition of a hypocrite, and if it doesn't fit the exact definition of hypocrite as neatly as someone who acts holy on Sunday and gets back to sinning on Monday I guess I ...

Re: Just being in the Gyms Lobby and expecting results analogy!

In response to Molgzonor posts "How many people in this person's AA could have used his involvement but he wasn't there for them, because wrapped up in self and resentment. Turn resentments around. He's a hypocrite and probably wouldn't like to be as such if he could see it. The definition of a...

Yeah as you say the result of the process which ever way it is done is that you are free./quote] For myself this post comes down to an idea I like to bear in mind when I think someone else is doing some process incorrectly. Now bear in mind this quote is appropriate only if the process is not harmf...

Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves. — TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p. 42/i] Only three Steps — the Fifth (where we open up to some one else), the Ninth (where we make amends to others we have harmed), and Twelfth (where we carry the message to other alcoholics)— invol...

Smoking weed or anything like that is 100% less harmful than being addicted to alcohol, beleive me./quote] IsacCornish you say "Smoking weed or anything like that is 100% less harmful than being addicted to alcohol, believe me." Firstly, you say " Smoking weed or anything like that ....

I do believe it's an outside issue and that it's a slippery slope to step outside the primary purpose. I also realize that many will consider that a rationalization so allow me to use our Bill Wilson as an example./quote] You say "many will consider that a rationalization." Personally I d...

Re: I want to go to rehab but I can't afford it.

I get the fact that some people maybe turned off by a certain aspect of AA [or any other group or institution for that matter]. But when it comes to a matter of life or death, I find it rather ironic, perhaps even sad, that a power that doesn't exist can have such tremendous power over them. "

Re: I want to go to rehab but I can't afford it.

Lots of support in recovering from alcoholism, without Gods, Supernatural Powers, Prayers, Mumbo Jumbo or having to twist 'God as We Understood Him' into "not-a-God as We Understood Him"./i] All the previous posts poke holes in Garretxr's theory of a God in relation to AA and how someone ...

AA literature tells us, “Only Step One, where we made the 100 percent admission we were powerless over alcohol, can be practiced with absolute perfection.” This bring to mind what is known as the 100% rule. Most people give up on their goals due to a lack of staying motivated. Motivation is lost bec...
