Re: When is the last time you heard:

I’ve a long way to go with working on myself . . . and I need to remember that even the first shakey steps are part of the journey and becoming aware of a defect in myself is the first step towards changing Your comment brought to mind a statement In the 12x12 regarding Step Four. "It never oc...

Re: Amends and infidelity

I've heard similar stories from other alcoholics with spouses. Spouses seem to get an expectation that they're entitled to some marvelous "day of reckoning", and often that day fails to come or live up to their fantasy. A blunt and to the point statement for sure. And, you know, sometimes...

Re: When is the last time you heard:

Either case I can't start seeing assholes everywhere and nurturing resentments or I'll keep getting what Im looking for, grow a chip on my shoulder, and finding more of it until I turn around and find the real asshole in the mirror. Exactly. Right in line with the statement "If everyone around...

Re: Amends and infidelity

I have had a number of instances in my 40 some years of sobriety where I was faced with whether to make an amend or not. One in particular stands out in my mind. It involved a person I worked with who was one of the least "live and let live" people I have ever known. When it came to his re...

Re: Wondering the stance on Marijuana

Sometimes one has to get out of the addiction to see what was really going on. Addiction blinds us to reality.
Addiction surely does blind us to reality. To a point that instead of confronting reality we only want to relieve its many symptoms.

Re: Military Requirement

Life is so exciting! Don't get too excited.... see page 90? End of Chapter 6 We all try real hard to regulate our negative emotions such as worry, fear, ect. However when it comes to positive emotions, such as excitement, pride, inspiration, we tend drop our guard and go with the feeling unchecked....

Re: Xanax

Maybe we should all come back to our primary purpose! Stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety. Smoking or non smoking should really not be the topic in a Newcomer meeting/Forum, as AA shouldn't have any opinion on outside issues. And on that comment maybe we can all put this thread...

Re: Xanax

You know when you're taking medicine prescribed by a doctor and when you're abusing drugs. I agree with this statement. If I may add to it...... In terms of making some decisions regarding "should I or should I not".......... The first thing we do in this process is rationalize why it wou...

Re: April 16th Daily Reflection

"The grouch and the brainstorm were not for us" Interesting quote. It made me think about how many times I have read this particular sentence and never gave thought to what Bill meant by "grouch and brain storm." So this morning this post of the Daily Reflections promoted me to ...

Re: "Locker room talk"

Like i wuss out, i'm not sure what to say and i'm afraid of the confrontation. Especially in a group setting... i wuss out of being another voice in the room, and challenge the language. Sounds to me like you have two issues going on in your mind/heart. One being that you detest being subjected to ...

I’m fearful to tell my sponser though as I’m afraid she will be upset or angry with me. I really do hesitate to say this as I don't know the whole story. However taking what you have said into account......... As a number of posts have stated perhaps what you need is a new sponsor. Maybe try to fin...

I’m close to drinking because I just feel defeated, it’s not helping me what I’m currently doing./quote] I believe that one of the toughest things involving personal growth is the finding the courage to tell someone exactly how we feel about how they are affecting us. Some times we can just shrug o...

Re: Just being in the Gyms Lobby and expecting results analogy!

If a person truly has a gift, he has an obligation to share it. "Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms." 1 Peter 4:10 /i] Although I was "Church raised" and in my adult life have drifted i...
