Summary:

17 responses, 15 positive.

Responses:

Oh my yes!:-)

Yes. Encouraged, cajoled, nudged, sometimes plainly offered to each
person by name.

yes and encouraged to do so

Yes. Well, all group members anyway.

YES. Lord knows some exercise this to death.

At all the meetings I've been to here.

Absolutely. I've never seen an instance where someone was discouraged
from speaking, except when their speech was abusive to other members.

If member's were a quieter list, more people might speak? BUT I could be
very wrong there. It does seem to be dominated at times by a few people
who respond to every email or don't read through the emails first to see
if the question was already answered. It's so easy to be "talked down"
online. In f2f the verbal battles go on but we can vote with our butts,
staying or leaving. A silent majority is visible in f2f, in online most
of us may be patiently tapping our feet but there's no way to make that
known unless we speak. In addition, we are each "on our own" every time
we say something -- in f2f it's easy to sit with a bunch of people and
come to a consensus before actual discussion on an issue begins in a
meeting.

It seems when some folks speak they are shot down for their
opinions.....doesn't encourage sharing.
