Interesting Perspective about alcoholism!

Postby avaneesh912 » Fri May 25, 2018 3:54 am

Couple of weeks ago some inmates were upset because the corrections facility D&A Rehabilitation Instructor stated that an alcoholic is one who has damaged the body parts and usually its the kidney that goes bust first and rest are just alcohol abusers. But one another instructor did engage in a conversation with the one who is serving 4 years for vehicular homicide, because she lost one of the family members in one accident, she was trying to understand more about 12 steps of AA and she was frustrated because she is not effective with inmates using the course material that they use. Different perspective from different people. We suggested that they take the big book with them next time they go to the class.

Hello Avaneesh912,We have both alcoholic trustees (Class B) and Non-alcoholic trustees (Class A) working with us at GSO. What seems to work with GSO is the Class A trustee usually get a Class B trustee to take them through the steps and sponsor them for the 4 years commitment.
Maybe someone could take the one instructor through the steps so she would have a better understanding.
The Class A trustees that I have talk to were so glad they did.

just a side note we refer to the Class B as Boozers and the Class A as amateurs
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in pretty, well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming WOW What a ride!!!!

Enough to make you be a trustee, Class B of course. And great reply.
I don't care how much you know until I know how much you care.
