looking for a sponsor

Most of us who recovered with AA's program did so with the help of a "sponsor". But what is sponsorship? How do I get one? Who can be a sponsor? What makes a good sponsor?

Someone who has good sobriety, and has worked the steps.

Find the people who show up every week, have what you want, and as best as you can tell, practice what they preach.

But I wouldn't obsess over it. I see a lot of people obsess over picking a sponsor, and really, it's a good way to stay on the outside looking in at recovery for just one more day. You can always pick a new sponsor later if it doesn't work out.
