Re: 11th January Daily Reflection
"I learned that Step One is the only Step that can be taken 100%. And that the only way to take it 100% is to take 100% of the Step. " Sometime ago I read an article that talked about a 100 % rule. The gist of it is that it's easier to hold your principles 100 percent of the time than it i...

Re: Twenty Four Hours A Day January 10th
I only had Faith in AA but it was a well enough for a beginning! And I learned to speak Truth from my inner-most self in the meetings of AA. And I learned the Principles... I was not taught what to think, but rather HOW to think. "I only had Faith in AA but it was a well enough for a beginning...

Re: Twenty Four Hours A Day January 9th
By nature I am not a mystically minded person. I am what I would consider more practical/scientific minded. I am not overly prayerful. Except in rare cases I find the Serenity Prayer is all I need. I am not saying I do not have any degree of a belief or faith in a source of Power higher than myself....

Re: Daily Picture January 8th
How I loved to solve other people’s problems when I could not even solve my own. I may even have had the best of intentions when I tried to tell people what they should do. However, I now I realize that my giving someone advice may be taken as, and may well be without my realizing it, a sign of supe...

Re: Twenty Four Hours A Day January 7th
Goes hand in hand with the philosophy "Although you may be able to argue the method you cannot argue the results." The proof is indeed in the pudding so to speak.I cannot judge when it enters the heart. I can only judge by results.

Re: Twenty Four Hours A Day January 6th
Keeping sober is the most important thing in my life . I celebrated 40 years of sobriety about a month ago. My dry date day went by and I forgot all about it. Reading this above quote this morning hit me hard. I guess I had " more important things on my mind" on that day. In terms of impo...

"If they caused you pain they must have pain inside." That is so true. Put another way "Hurt people hurt People."

Re: Twenty Four Hours A Day January 3rd
At my first meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous I listened to a group of people introduce themselves as Alcoholics. So, when my turn to speak came along, I openly said "My name is Dave and I'm an Alcoholic. I could identify to a degree with their stories leaving me thinking perhaps I too am one of ...

Re: Twenty Four Hours A Day 2nd January
I think that I always thought myself worth something I remember when I first made contact with AA. It was thru a 12 step call. The fellow who answered the call and myself were comparing how we felt, thought, and behaved when drinking. We matched notes pretty well up until he asked me the question &...

Re: Twenty Four Hours A Day 2nd January
The first thing is to have a revulsion against myself and my way of living. It never ceases to amaze me how people back in the day when this book was written loved to beat themselves up. Revulsion by the dictionary definition is a sense of disgust and loathing . If I totally loathed myself upon ent...

Re: Daily Picture January 2nd
"You continually come back to things you thought you understood and see deeper truths." I find this statement true in my sobriety. This is apparent in how many times during my sobriety I have re-read a thought in the Big Book. The first time I read it may have had little impact on me. Upo...

Re: Daily Picture December 30th
That is so true. I spent most of my life stressing, worrying, resenting. putting too much value on, and a host of other negative thoughts and emotions involving how other people felt or thought about me. I was in fact by doing this putting others in charge of how I felt and thought. That only increa...

Re: No Guilt = No Defect?
[I apologized and said I couldn’t help with the decision, but inside I was pretty pissed off that a sponsor would use their own standard of morality, to decide what someone else's defects are./i] My thoughts are this: It may not be a case of moral judgement but rather the sponsor may have the benef...
