Re: Sick of It!

Thank you all for the responses and encouragement. 24 hours sober. Had a good night's sleep in the hotel and the outlook looks bright. Spent my "spare" time yesterday in deep thought about my powerlessness and got back to doing a little journal writing to gain a bit more perspective. Great suggestio...

Re: Sick of It!

I was feeling good in my early sobriety, but like you, I never quite felt right. I made step 1 easy enough, then step 2 pretty quickly, even if I was a bit unsure about God. Step 3 became my battleground and that's where I decided that I could do it on my own. Never made it past there. I've consider...

Re: Sick of It!

I want to go to a meeting today, but I will be traveling with a group of students and am obligated for the next 48 hours.

Sick of It!

I went to local meetings two years ago and found that I could get sober and I thought could stay sober, but...I fell off the wagon and my drinking has escalated again to the point that I'm obsessed with the next drink, all day every day. I think I struggled most with the HP concept and thought I cou...

Re: I really want to stop drinking….

Just look at the address in your address bar right now and remove everything behind org That should take you to the portal and click on "let's talk" and you will see the meeting schedule and links to the chat rooms.

Re: I really want to stop drinking….

google search for aa online. This board doesn't allow links. but aaonline might be a good search term. Some of the online deals are pretty chaotic. This e-AA group portal has online meetings a couple of times a day. For me, online meetings aren't as good as face to face, but they do help out some pe...

Re: I really want to stop drinking….

Hey Tim! I found fruit juice to help me somewhat during those first couple of days. Really, your body will want some sugar, so it would better to give it some healthier sugar. Find that meeting and give it a chance. You might be able to find an online meeting as well.

Re: Coming Back In

You can now relate better to the BB phrase "strange mental blank spots". Giving sobriety another shot is always the correct decision. Giving it the same effort and involvement that didn't work before may not be the best course. In my earlier runs at AA I'd believed that some of the phrases I'd hear...

Re: Coming Back In

Welcome back Toy, When you get to that meeting introduce yourself and look into getting an active sponsor who works the Big Book and Steps. Getting sober and staying sober left to our own devices lead us back into the insanity . I remember trying sobriety on my own. Painful and crazy. I had to chan...

You've had your luck, it's time for plugging away at sobriety!

You can do this! But if you're anything like me, not alone :)

Rootin' for ya in Sweden,

Ann
Thanks Ann!

Coming Back In

I was completely sober for 10 months. I went to many meetings for 3-4 months and then life got busy and I stopped going. Everything went along fine for a few more months but then "I" decided I could likely drink a glass of wine or beer to relax. That sort of worked, but it soon became a couple of gl...

My first year sober

Have not been on the boards for quite a while, but I quit drinking on June 21, 2013. Thanks for your early support as I started on this journey. May your days ahead be blessed and dry.

Re: Step Four...

I started writing mine down in a sort of narrative, after looking through all the lists I've been working on for about 3 weeks. I've discovered, upon pretty intense reflection, that many of my resentments have already been removed. I'm guessing that just acknowledging them was a key for me. I don't ...

Re: Are there any runners here?

I would run if I could, but a lack of cartilage in the knees prevents that. However, I can spin around on a bicycle for many hours. Good job on the running, keep it up!
