Re: The First One!

Re: The state of the mind of the alcoholic without power!
But what about the real alcoholic? He may start off as a moderate drinker; he may or may not become a continuous hard drinker; but at some stage of his drinking career he begins to lose all control of his liquor consumption, once he starts to drink. Here is a fellow who has been puzzling you, especi...

Re: The First One!
I believe it matters a great deal. Why else would they use so many of the 164 pages, in which they have to give us the message, with stories to demonstrate what happens to those who decide not to do the work, and just stay away from the first one instead. And mention over and over the powerlessness...

i think the problem is with your obsession about the mental twist stage the problem here is that we all come into aa at different stages of progression, many come to aa now who still have a lot left to lose as the rock bottom has now been raised which is a good thing in that people dont have suffer ...

Re: The First One!
Sure perhaps like Jeff the accountant. Not a cloud on the horizon. There are people here and in the meetings who keep parroting the slogan, if you dont take the first one you wont get drunk. But we alcoholics, without the power, will get blind sighted and take that first drink. We may not go into i...

Re: Steps 2 and 3
Hi All STEPS 2 and 3 Step 2 Came to believe that a power greater than myself, could restore us to sanity. I had a hard time believing in God, even though this step, doesn't say God or religion, that's how I reacted to it. I was brought up in a devote catholic family, I had to go to church on Sunday...
