In the short duration I have been on, this group has been so supportive of each other. We are here to help a person looking for a solution. I would like to know where you are in your recovery. If you are here to win an argument, i don't believe this group will support such activities. Remember the 1...

Detoxing a Real Alcoholic is just removing the alcohol from the body (so that the craving goes away) but the Obsession is still kicking butt and the spiritual malady being restless irritable and discontented-ness is still left un-treated. The insurance firms have come to realize that just detoxifica...

Hey Judy, You summed it all good. As always this is piece is from "There is a solution" chapter. ================================================= If you are as seriously alcoholic as we were, we believe there is no middle-of-the-road solution . We were in a position where life was becoming impossib...

You may find my comments monotonous. Getting back is good, like you said its Gods grace. But having come back, do you realize the real solution for a real alcoholic is having a spiritual awakening or experience? The power of the fellowship alone is not sufficient for a real alcoholic. Here is the po...

yes it is difficult to pick one. if you are serious about your recovery, talk to few people after the meeting. try to find out what they think is a solution. if they point to the BB, talk about 12 steps of alcoholics, talk about what alcoholism really is, then you may be in good hands. If you hear: ...

yes it is difficult, that is the reason the statement: ================================================ Though our decision was vital and crucial step (step 3), it could have little permanent effect unless at once followed by a strenuous effort to face, and to be rid of, the things in ourselves whic...

================================================= From the We Agnostics: Actually we were fooling ourselves, for deep down in every man, woman, and child, is the fundamental idea of God. It may be obscured by calamity, by pomp, by worship of other things, but in some form or other it is there. For f...

Its great to welcome back people who have slipped with an open arm. But are we ensuring that he/she is getting the message at least now? The solution is to have a spiritual awakening/experience or physic change Dr. Silkworth calls it. Instead, we tell them keep coming back. If he/she is still in pai...

i am not sure where you are in the program. we are restored to sanity once we get into 10, 11 and 12. The power we get connected will take care off our problems. Our part is to stay in touch with the power.

For me listening to speaker tapes different kind became my hobby early in my recovery. I bought myself a cheap MP3 player and downloaded workshops, speeches...... and listened to them while exercising, driving around....it helped me a lot to understand why the book was written. And in doing so, i en...

This is the last paragraph of More about alcoholism: Once more: The alcoholic at certain times has no effective mental defense against the first drink. Except in a few cases, neither he nor any other human being can provide such a defense . His defense must come from a Higher Power. ================...

To be agnostics, its better than being an atheist. After you work the steps, you get connected to the power. So don't worry about it for now. =============================================== We needed to ask ourselves but one short question. --"Do I now believe, or am I even willing to believe, that ...

The book never used the word Sponsor/Sponsee......it just refers to as "close-mouthed" understanding friend. ..... we need someone to do your fifth step (i know a friend who has a long-distance sponsor). And then as you clean up the past, while you work on 10, 11, 12 we are going to make mistakes......., there too we need someone who can look it and get us through. if anyone who says they do this alone, they are...
