Re: Totally new

Just thought I'd mention my story: my mom was an alcoholic. One morning I woke up in my apartment by myself, noticed the devastation though I was the only one that lived there, and realized, "If I keep drinking, I'll end up like her, and I hate her." I quit and my emotional condition quickly dumped ...

Step 11: "...praying only for the knowledge of his will for us and the power to carry that out."

Re: Evening check-in

Hi ebear,
Your list of positives should include prayer and meditation or working on whatever step you are on. Its a spiritual program.
I know, you want to be positive, but your list in the OP didn't include spiritual experience.

Consider "The Grapevine", our meeting in print for when you are on ship

Keep working your program even when there is no booze around. The problem is in your mind, as the Big Book says.

Re: Was my sponsor unreasonable?

Your sponsor sounds a bit controlling IMO. However, my first sponsor did pressure me into calling at least one person and becoming friends. The point was to get a friend, of which I didn't have any. Just random calling would be annoying. And anyway, many people don't like talking on the phone anymore.

Re: Struggling with my Sponsor

It is not that meetings keep you sober. They are just part of the equation. But do keep going to as many as are right for you. When I used to travel 50%, I went to out of town meetings. Not because I wanted to drink but just to go and see. I used to go to Augusta Georgia alot. So I went to their mee...

Re: Questions Heard At Meetings.

Actually, in the areas where I have lived (Houston metro area and Kansas City), I never ran into this question. If someone mentions information from the 12x12, it is accepted. Only here on e-AA have I "met" people who dis the 12x12. I was quite surprised. Personally, the Big Book is not "Gospel" to ...

Re: The Hardline Approach

Being there to "help others achieve sobriety"
Actually, it says, "stay sober and help other alcoholics to achieve sobriety"
