The address that Keith gave will ship literature and books at cost. They will send you a catalog with an order form in it. My advice is to make a copy of the order form and then FAX in your order. In my experience, there are fewer problems that way, it also speeds things up if you have a credit card...

When I start to dread seeing or hearing a person at a meeting, I know the problem is with me. One person can not bring down a group, they can provoke individual responses, but the response and subsequent actions are up to the individual.

Ditto that Willingness! I certainly didn't go to my first meeting because I was all together and thought it would be a fun thing to do. I was panicking and coming apart at the seams. It was the last thing I wanted to do,but in retrospect, the best thing I have done. Surrender to win, reach out for h...

I am not about to offer any advice here because that is only an exercise in futility. A wise man doesn't need it and a foolish man won't take it. I do know that I grow more when I look for the similarities as opposed to the differences, because it helps to remind me that we are all on the same journ...

Great advice Patrick, thanks. I have never quite heard those words put that way before. Simple and effective, just like the program. There is always more to learn on how to grow and that is what keeps me coming back. Thanks

Thanks for the welcomes! It feels like home and helps me to stay connected. No office here period and the phone number was disconnected. Oh well, I will keep trying, but so glad that I found this site. When I did go to the meeting in St John, I got a number for a guy here, but haven't been able to r...

What is so great about sobriety for me is that I get to experience my life exactly as it is intended to be. I get to be me. Life is not a spectator sport. Not something to be experienced through a character created by my mind. I finally get to be the man I always wanted to be in my heart.

Early in sobriety the why drove me nuts. The more I focused on it the less progress I made. With time the focus on why dimmed slowly, as the focus dimmed the why came slowly to me.

When I first sobered up, I had cravings horrendously. I would practically have my hand on the bottle when I would give myself a time limit. I would say that I could hold off for 15 minutes (or whatever time) and if in 15 minutes if I wanted the drink, it would still be there. Many a time I had to go...

Hi Iris! I can relate to much of your posting, alot of similarities in our stories. I sobered up in a rural area where I was a business owner on Main Street, and I didn't want my secret to get out. The thing I feared the most was all in my mind. As the fear was gradually confronted, I realized that ...

Layne, an alcoholic.
I am grateful for the growth that I experience. I am grateful to feel lousy, to feel joy, to feel anger, to feel serenity. For years, I tried to suppress feelings, the very things that make me human. Today I am grateful that I allow myself to be human.

I do better when I don't need explanations and answers. Logi...
