Re: Now addicted to sugar!!

It may sound different, but here it goes.

When I first sobered up I was told that sweets help with cravings for alcohol so this may pass when you get over the cravings. One of the promises.

Re: I guess I'm a Big Book Thumper

The BB is meant to be a suggestion only! It says that in A Vision for You. Why put this fact in the last chapter of the program as the BB describes it? Because if you have read the other chapters, you would realize that the book lays out a way to living Sober and content life, much like Ikea lays ou...

Re: Alcoholic neuropathy - anyone had it ?

I read the symptoms as Plain Ordinary Gout.

It does go away, try 1+1/2 corks per day.

Nothing Designer about it. But then I am not a Doctor.

John D - not at all, it did help! I'm freaking out for many other reasons ... I appreciate all journeys/perspectives. I'm just completely unable to fathom a future past tonight right now ... Thanks, all. Hi Tracy. I am glad to hear in your later texts on Monday that you have made it through this Sa...

First of all, "What can you say in a meeting which you cannot disclose to a Best Friend?" An Open Meeting is just that, Anyone can attend. She has all of the same rights to be there as you do even if she doesn't need it to live a normal day to day life. Or maybe she does, and just hasn't admitted it...

Re: Scared to Death

My first bottom 1989 involved a vehicle accident, placing my Girl Friend (at the time wife now) in danger, a DUI (2nd within a year) drinking 1/2 litre of 2 stroke motor oil, a Spiritual Experience, 4 days of unbearable fear before getting to my first meeting, and watching a couple having sex in a c...

Re: New to recovery

James, first off, Congrats on 80 days, and if you stick to it, things will continue to get better. I am not familiar with the SMART program or any others like that. I am just getting familiar with ee-AA. I do know that where ever you go to find help, James will follow. It is something that has to be...

Re: My experience with my Sponsor. I need help.

It is unclear to me which part of your post you are seeking help with so I will comment on all of the issues you brought up. First and foremost, you say you and your sponsor “talked about” step work. Have you actually taken the steps? I ask because one would be better equipped to handle situations ...

On another note, e-AA.org, was brought up 3 nights ago at the meeting.I mentioned that I enjoy it for the comments D'oh :D Oh How exciting! Where did we get a mention? I know we handed out postcards at the International convention, but I would like to know if it got results with the f2f's that came...

Re: Alcohol in the home when moving in with a partner

I hate to "Rock the Boat" again. It is Promised, Page 84+5 And we have ceased fighting anyything or anyone even alcohol. For by this time sanity will have returned. We will seldom be interested in liquor. If tempted we recoil from it as from a hot flame. We react sanely and normally, and we find tha...

Re: Looking for a Temp On-Line Sponsor*has Anyone done this?

It does seem like an unusual request, and brings to mind most of the many things that we as alcoholics might be running from. So here is "my take" A reminder, you asked for it. No where in the fifth step does it say that it has to be done by a sponsor. I have done all 4 of mine with my "Then Sponsor...

Re: Am I an alcoholic?

Hi Cheryl Thanks for sharing. I think the only difference between a heavy drinker and an alcoholic is once the alcoholic starts to drink, they don't control the booze, rather booze controls the alcoholic. And if when you drink, you get into trouble. Financial, law, family and so on. I grew up in a h...

Re: 24 days sober- future temptation

I sobered up in a January. I had to stand up for my brothers wedding that August. I was so nervous that I actually went to a friends wedding in June as a test. I sat there like a bump on a log and was ready to leave by 8:00. My brother was over before I knew it. I had a hoot, didn't get home till 4:...

I usually say welcome back, good to see you have made it back. 1 fellow after about the 8-10th slip and back in, weekend binge that worked for him. I walked up to him after the meeting, put my hand on his shoulder and whispered "You know there is a program named Alcoholics Anonymous, maybe you shoul...
