Re: I am trying to convince myself that I havent got a probl

Love this topic because I am in the right place! I know I don't have a problem as it is the alcohol and any other addiction I haves fault! Having made a conscious effort I found that I am powerless over alcohol and my life was totally unmanageable! It is hard to surrender totally as my mind would ra...

Re: 107 days sober and no sponsor

Have you considered attending another meeting in your community as well as your home group as a means to find a sponsor? I had two home groups and it was a variety of BB/12X12 and as Bill see's it. Their is no limitation of meetings and if you find the right person then ask and find out. So the poin...

Re: Working the steps without a sponsor

One point is rigorist honesty as I know I can BS myself the best! So having a person preferably of the same sex as yourself, as the knowledge and explanations can be the clearer method. You have nothing to lose by finding a sponsor and I highly recommend that the person you ask to sponsor is and ha...

Re: Spiritual Substance of Anonymity is Sacrifice

It is getting out of my way and allowing the program to reflect the efforts of the work that we as a group have accomplished one person at a time. Sacrifice is a key element and mostly taken for granted if I were to drill down more and look at the meaning as it pertains to me.

good post.

Re: So our troubles, are basically of our own making pg 62

Ok; a little edgy in some areas and yet I agree it is my beliefs, and my ego to some degree that could keep me from being humble and thus finger pointing. On another point had this post been printed and circulated around or country prior to Tuesday I wonder the outcome. No need to reply because my p...

Re: Attended 1st meeting

I might throw out an idea about meetings: If you live in a big city then I would think they have many meetings at all hours to assist with life in a city. Try a candle light meeting because they are dark, limited light and it might allow you the opportunity to open up. Meetings are scary because I k...

"and then the thought came to me, “ I can drink moderately”, and how do I overcome the fear of missing out on the “ good tim es”? Welcome and you sound like you know the answers and yet hold back because of the unknowns behind door #2! I know that feeling and I know those thoughts and I also rememb...

29 years yesterday

Wow that is totally amazing and I am so humble I have been given this precious gift of sobriety. The only small piece of suggested advice to anyone struggling is if you have the desire to stop drinking and or using then you really need to make the same aggressive efforts that drive you to use, to st...

Re: Tradition 10 - Assistance with Interesting Subject

Seems like in the 21st century we have a lot of people wanting to chuck out what was and invent a new program of AA because 1939 is long gone and it surely can't relate to 2018! ive heard quite a bit at meetings that has me thinkin theres already another edition/version of the BB many of us arent a...

Re: Tradition 10 - Assistance with Interesting Subject

I was told that AA is a simple program for "complicated people" and our traditions are a means to herd the cats as all of the issues from the late 1930's are still issues today to some degree. if I look too much into any one thing then I become obsessive and want to control things....! (I know becau...

Re: I made it... almost :)

Thanks! It's why I agreed to do it, in my drinking days I would have ran for the hills (or a bar in the hills).... have to give it away to keep it, right!? It took me almost 11 months to get up the courage to do a simple share, now here I am a few days out from a 45 minute talk! LOL.... just going ...

Re: I made it... almost :)

Well done Sir! I would like to add one very important point from your post and that is "goal" for us drunks if I build in even in the slightest that I could drink even if my intent was not that clear. My mind knows and can and could start sending signals. I would highly recommend that you look at th...
