Re: So...

So first meeting. Terrifying stuff - but they all, without exception were lovely. One lady shared, and it was scary. Scarily similar to what I am now, only further down the line. My husband, bless him, came with me. I have no longer any doubt at all, that I am an alcoholic, and neither does my husba...

Re: So...

aha...touche.

No. I'm going to a meeting in an hour or so. It's a ways out, but I'm struggling, clearly. Don't know what to expect, anxious, scared, but the first time is always the hardest, right!

Thanks all x

Re: Hello from Russia

Hello Olga

Your English is absolutely fine (in fact, that was better written than a lot of English people can manage  )

I have no recovery story for you I'm afraid. I'm only a few days in myself, but it's nice to meet you and look forward to getting to know you :)

So...

Apologies for the vague title, but I really didn't know what to call this thread. 3 days ago, I would have said 'I am an alcoholic'. Step one, done. Right? However, last night in bed, whilst I couldn't sleep, my brain was (over) working stuff. I suspect what it was saying, is all too common. Then ag...

Re: How to deal with it

Thanks for that Hecramsey My husband is off work this weekend, so it will be a bit easier I think. He's not drinking along with me at the moment, so he's being supportive, which is great :) thanks to agoraphobia, i was never an 'outside' drinker, except very occasionally. It seems to be the evenings ...

Re: Hello

You know, I had to actually go back and count the days. It feels much longer than four tonight. My concentration is appalling. Cooking for my sons party, and I somehow managed to put a tray of chicken directly on top of a tray of sausage rolls in the oven.......squashed flat, and i didn't even reali...

Re: Meetings

I don't have any advice. I'm far too new to this to be offering that - I just wanted you to know that you're not alone in feeling this hesitation. I'm also trying to pluck up the courage to go.
Courage to both of us, eh :)

Re: How to deal with it

Well, I did it. Day four. Thank you so much for the input :) Having thought about this - much easier sober. Isn't that strange ;) I'm not convinced that there is anything actually wrong with my daughter taking that journey alone. She feels safe enough in herself, and often walks to the first bus sto...

Re: How to deal with it

thanks for the advice guys. I haven't had a drink. Dealing with him, makes me want to, but since he's not going away any time soon, I have to find another way. To be honest, any time I feel criticized or under attack in any way, I want to drink. I'm way oversensitive, so I've been told, so that's qu...

How to deal with it

I am new to sobriety, only 3 days in. I've already hit a stumbling block, and I'm struggling, right now. Haven't even had the chance for my book to get here yet. Ex husband, violent/abusive to me, in many ways, was with him 10 years, and that's why he's an ex. Doesn't provide for his kids at all, no...

Re: A Recovering Alcoholic's Blog

I guess what I'm saying is people can be assholes if they don't know, or have never experienced addiction first hand. They can, absolutely, but that applies to many many things, a few of which I have experience of. I'm also a survivor of domestic violence, and have mental health issues. Both of tho...
