Re: Hi. My name is Merl and I'm an alcoholic

Hey Merl, Good to see you're still with us. I'm a mother myself. All I want to see is my children happy and healthy.....though 2 of those are children no longer. They hurt, I hurt. To see them grow and become, is amazing. I do believe your mum will be cheering you on from another place right now. So...

Re: Willingness does not mean want to..so very true

Welcome serenity :) You say you've been in and out of the program for three years....did you ever take the steps? Thoroughly and honestly? Did you try to live by the principles within? That's where the solution is. Meetings won't get me well. I can't get this by osmosis. I have to put the action in....

Re: Can't stop drinking

God has not provided any type relief. Only alcohol or drugs as. Hey Trish, welcome to E-AA. Simply praying won't rid you of the obsession, unfortunately - we have to put actions in to get close to a God of our understanding. Prayer is a part of that, but there's more to be done too. That's why we h...

Re: November Grapevine Quote of the Day

That phrase says to me, 'I'm never really satisfied'. Having a Spiritual malady, is not fun. I can certainly relate to that. 18 months ago, I was drunk every day, and barely functioning. Now, I work, rarely have time to breathe, in between single parenting, kids activities, AA stuff, shopping, house...

So, when do you meditate?

I'm just curious as to when folk meditate. I think it was joe mcQ (forgive me if I'm wrong) suggested that meditation is like preparing yourself for the day ahead - heading out into the world in a non peaceful state, will result in a bad day, or words to that effect. That's the general gist of it an...

Re: Forever dependant on just A sponsor?

Hey Service Instead of putting sponsors and those who use them down, what about sharing how you did it without a sponsor? We need another person in step 5, for sure - how did you tackle this? How did you learn the steps? What resources did you use to look deeper? I know there are quite a few people ...

Re: If you meet...

It's a bit of a paradox, innit. By our nature, we seek to identify and compartmentalize....and some things we just can't do that with...but it doesn't stop my brain trying...but then I learn (thanks Tosh  ) that even if I did somehow manage this, it wouldn't be the answer anyway...but still I w...

Re: Home Group Decision

Hey Larry, When it comes to making decisions like this, I inventory it - yes really. Not in the step 4 sense, but in a list of pro's and cons for each. Then I look at it in black and white, and make a decision based on that fact. Sometimes I make the right decision, sometimes I don't....either way, ...

Re: personalities in the rooms

The first thing I thought when I read this, is a quote I heard from Actress Helen mirren “‘At 70 years old, if I could give my younger self one piece of advice, it would be to use the words ‘f*ck off’ much more frequently,” Not terribly spiritual, sorry. But I get where she's coming from. The type o...
