Re: Progressive Sobriety?

We are given a daily reprieve based on our spiritual condition. I try to remember three steps forward and two steps back is still going forward.

Re: Group made a decision, one member refusing to respect it

Most of what I learned in AA was the meeting after the meeting. Its a great time to talk to the newcomer and let them know what AA is all about.

Re: How do you personally cope with the Holiday Blues?

Since my last drink was on December 24, the Holiday season is something I look forward to. As the saying goes, you're as happy as you make up your mind to be. If i don't like something or how I'm feeling, I change it.

Re: Coffee and AA

When I got sober back in the late 1970’s, the cigarette smoke was so thick, you could cut it with a knife. Coffee and cigarettes helped kept me from drinking until I got a sponsor and worked my way through The Twelve Steps. I eventually stopped smoking and cut back on the coffee. In all these years,...

Re: The Lords prayer

I don't agree with closing meetings with it. The group conscience does. I just stay silent until its over. These are the people that saved my life. It doesn't hurt me to shut my yap for a minute for what you have given me.

Re: Sponsor needs sponsor?

It seems that sponsorship as evolved to being a life coach after taking someone through the Steps. The 12 Steps taught me to rely on my Higher Powers. I learned how to do that through my sponsor. I keep it fresh for me by helping and sponsoring newcomers. I tell them what my sponsor told me when I a...

Re: Turning 21

I know in Narcotics Anonymous, alcohol is a drug. I find myself addicted to almost any chemical that makes me feel good. I sobered up one month before my 18th birthday. The legal drinking age the next state over was 18. I did not go out of state and get drunk for that birthday. I stuck with others i...

I second the suggestion that you reach out to your local AlAnon Groups in your area. The only person we can change is ourselves.
