Re: Feeling defeated...

. Here’s where I’m struggling the most - I have a sponsor who seems to find something wrong with everything I do or say, unless I’m agreeing with her. On top of that, she’s been very opinionated about my current relationship and how I need to try and work things out, without knowing much context at...

Singleness of purpose means that we share one purpose, recovery from alcoholism through the 12 steps.
We are in AA to solve our COMMON problem, alcoholism.

Re: Question

Hi, One of my best friends is currently in rehab. I was communicating with him almost daily while he was in jail and I visited him. However, his case manager looked at messages between us on Facebook and said she was banning contact between us because I have had issues with substance abuse. (They a...

Re: Not sure what to do.

My husband has been drinking for our whole marriage. Never been a big problem whereas he still goes to work, is not abusive. But the last year has been bad with staying in the kitchen all night and drinking 10 beers a night. My 14 year old told me that dad has changed an I didn't know he drank beer...

Re: Mixed feelings after taking Step 5

So on Saturday I went to my sponsors house did step 5. I was really looking forward to this step as I believe it is one of the most important steps. We spent around 5 hours going through my inventory. Since Saturday I have had some mixed feelings. I wasn't sure what to expect to be honest. I have f...

Re: Trying to muster the courage for sobriety and questions about AA meetings

Hi everyone, Silly me for thinking I could give moderation a try. I’m starting to reach a point where I am sick of being controlled by my alcoholism. I realize I will need some outside help. The thought of AA meetings scares me so so much, but after reading about so many success stories on this sit...

Re: Help Me!

Didn’t go to the meeting yesterday, another excuse! My mind tells me I can do it on my own but I know that I can’t. But I didn’t drink again and I’m not going to drink today Put sobriety first to make it last. Try to get to a meeting today even if you can't stay for the whole meeting. Use AA phone ...

Re: Nice to be here

My name is Dave and I'm an alcoholic. I've finally come around to admitting it. After 40 years of drinking (I'm 53) I think I had more than enough. Many arrests, many crashed cars, many embarrassing nights, so much negativity. Even 30 years ago (1st DUI) I went to AA (had to) but ended up liking it...

Re: Help Needed: Any Advice Please!!

Me and my boyfriend are going to an engagement party tonight. I don’t know the girl who’s party it is as it’s my boyfriend’s friend. I don’t know anyone there, and I feel like it’s going to be so hard to not drink beforehand. I just want to go and buy a drink somewhere without anyone knowing. I beg...

Re: Help Me!

I’m loving going to meetings right now hopefully I can get myself a sponsor and start working the steps The suggestion to try online meetings when you can't sleep is a good one. I have a feeling that's how I discovered e-AA. and continued to use the meetings as a supplement to f2f. The Online Meeti...

Re: Help Me!

During the day I’m feeling happier and more willing, at night I feel absolutely shattered but I’m struggling to sleep Welcome Boblardo. Sounds as though you're doing great. After we stop drinking, the agitating effect may persist for a while, leading to jumpiness and insomnia; or we may suddenly be...

Re: Original disease concept video black and white

Hi everyone, I’m new to this site, have been on/off with AA since 2011. Finally managed 3years sober this April. I’m thinking of returning to AA and want to see the original black and white video explaining the disease model of alcohol. It’s late 1950’s or 60’s, one guy and a whiteboard and he expl...
