Re: April 12, 1996

Thanks guys, life is good. I for 24 years have done something totally alien for me the alcoholic, I have not taken a drink. In fact, I do not even think about it. God's grace has been mighty.

Re: In what ways has the Fellowship of AA changed

Meetings have changed how they present the message and the fellowship is different. But one thing has not changed, alcoholism. One alcoholic helping another and the first 164 pages still works.

Re: if been given the aa ultimatum.

Hello Dia2011, I came into the rooms of AA court ordered with no intentions to stop drinking. Quite frankly, I hated it...but I listened. What I soon could not deflect was the fact that after a meeting, I may not have been able to connect with the speakers' shares but I kept finding myself saying - ...

Re: AA request??

I believe, we as the fellowship of AA makes only one request of ourselves and that is to please follow the Traditions. For many years I have when ever possible tried to be there when asked to share my experiences, strength and hope. It is how I repay those who shared themselves with me when I first ...

Re: Children in meetings

if kids are allowed at Closed AA meetings. In this area they are not. The closed statement reads that the meeting is for those who have a problem with alcoholism. But there are no rules in AA and each Home Group is autonomous and can set their own guidelines. There is one exception in this area and...

Re: need help finding story in the big book

The story was moved and renamed as part of a compromise. This 4th Edition is the first time the membership had a say in what stories were selected. Each Area's DCMs and GSRs brought the info back to the Districts and Home Groups. In every committee made up of the members, Doctor, Alcoholic, Addict w...

Re: My 9th Step, so far.

Step 9: "Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others." When I had trouble making an amends I first read the Promises, meditate on them, and then do two things. I ask myself where and what is my fear, why am I not turning my will and my life o...

Re: Fitting in hangover

Today when i woke i felt drained with a slight headache , this happens when i attend anything like a party, wedding ,social situation. Can't really put a finger on why, maybe being with folks who are not on any spiritual level, people who are over emotional like at the wedding, having to keep a clo...

Re: Thoughts on the "Carpet Slipper" guy from Ch. 3

What if eastern scriptures are right? That we go thru several cycles of birth and death? We die and take birth because the "inner self" is still hankering for some material things? In our case more booze? Here is paragraph from "Power of Now" where it talks about conscious death/death with obsessed...

Re: Doing it tough.......

Thank you min25, for being here and for being sober. I faced many agonizing experiences before sobriety that I tried to fix with booze, to no avail. Now in sobriety I have faced many trials that have been painful mentally, physically and spiritually. Everything from being homeless to near death, fro...

Re: Doing it tough.......

WOW I got through that" I feel absolutely terrified that if one more bad thing happens I'm going to crumble. I stay away from setting up senerios that are given excuses to drink. There is no "good life" as there is no "bad life," there is only life. I find when I live one day at a time with a visio...
