Re: Just feeling frustrated today....any suggestions?
Scuse me for sharing twice so close to my first post (that I edited for grammar). I forgot to say that I took group level service commitments when I started going to meetings in and near my new town; making coffee, chairing meetings, treasurer, going on speaking commitments (for the group where that...

Re: Just feeling frustrated today....any suggestions?
Thank-you, Marine, for the topic. I have long-term sobriety. My spouse and I moved to a new town several years ago when I had double-digit sobriety. I too encountered the AA cliques, especially among women. No, I am not one who can insinuate myself into cliques, but I respect those of you who can do...

Re: I've died a hundred times...
Hello HelloDarkness, When put the plug in the jug for the last time, I remember that my emotions were all over the place. Yet, there were much emotions that I could not put into words, at least at first. I got sober in the days before online AA, but I did use the telephone a lot, using the numbers t...

Re: Step 12
Thanks for the reply Tosh, you articulated what I was thinking much better than I could have. A double thumbs up from me, Hawk In the face of the fact that we know that working the steps would most likely ( given the evidence based success rate) have kept these folk sober, can someone tell me what w...

I am not here to argue or debate, I am not going to change anyone's mind. I don't always engage in the friendly arguments we have here on the forums, because it is not a mode that I am real comfortable with. Yet, I want to share. That is all, just to share. I believe we have a program of working the...

Re: I've relapsed
Welcome Dave, I was terrified when I first began to go to A.A. meetings many years ago when I got sober. I was a little less scared when I went to an A.A. meeting, so I kept going. At some point in my first few days, I got a Big Book and began reading it. While I admit that it take me several months...

Re: sobriety now feels like a problem
Hello Redsky, I am glad you are here. I was fortunate in that my family were either supportive of my not drinking or my not drinking made no difference to them. I also lived in another State than all of my family, so times for visiting were infrequent. Anyway, but I did experience that there were so...

Re: Y.E.T.s
I remember one of my early A.A. buddies, Linda. Linda had a few more years then I and had no car. So, I took her around to meetings. She was my sponsor a couple of years later, but then passed due to cancer. I think of her a lot. When I came in, and am fortunate to have continuous sobriety, I had no...

Re: Unable to go to meetings!!!!
Hawk one of your moderators weighing in. Let's play nicely folk. A reminder that we in A.A. are not physicians. Some of us have needed outside help from professionals in addition to our A.A. program. Let's please curb judgements on another's A.A. program.
