Re: Questions heard at meetings.

What I learned from making amends is fixing what can be fixed and growing in effectiveness/usefulness to my higher power through humility. It's accepting that yes, I made some very selfish choices that resulted in consequences that I was resentful of. I was ashamed of or regretted the experience I'm...

Re: Drinking Dreams

Ha! I'm so glad this thread popped back up! I want to share my dream for last night! Awful! I dreamed that my home group basically told me that I was supposed to chair this meeting and close everything up at the church every night. I couldn't get the script right, couldn't start on time, went over, ...

Re: Drinking Dreams

Hey Paige, When I entered sobriety, I had drinking dreams ALL the time. Every night. I really didn't like it :( . That is one thing I did ask my HP to please help with and they did ease up. It got to where I would have them weekly, then monthly...you get the idea. As I was growing away from the obse...

Re: How many of us are out there?

Hey Boppie, Welcome to the forums! I’ve really enjoyed using this platform as a new recovery tool, aka a substitute for my old tool: alcohol. Congratulations on 29 days! It gets easier when you ask a fellow alcoholic to take you through the Twelve Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Are you attending AA ...

Re: Cheating Husband Sober 60 Days Lying About Affairs

Hi Ernstfortin, Reading your story, I can really identify with your emotions. I can smile a bit too. I’m a double winner—I qualify for al-anon and alcoholics anonymous. It felt so much like my husband’s problems were my problems. When I heard anything different, it just didn’t make sense! The bottom...

Re: Not at rock bottom ..but asking questions

Hey Lilli, Yes, I really identify with the feeling of being no stranger to secrets. For me, I thought it was normal to not be completely honest with others, including my immediate family. It’s a lonely life in retrospect, but that was all I knew before joining Alcoholics Anonymous. Once I began shar...

Re: Not at rock bottom ..but asking questions

Hey Lillibet, Thanks for the question and welcome! Looking back on my active alcoholism, my low bottoms resulted because of my obsession with alcohol. I thought about alcohol ALL the time, non-stop; 100% my brain’s goal was to get alcohol. With that going, I could not function and be responsible for...

Re: How do I help my atheist sponsee?

i suggest having him, and yourself, too, read the chapter,"we agnostics." if the sponsee is praying every morning and night, there is some HP being prayed to. it doesnt have to be the same HP you have or same perception- just as long as it makes sense to him. As an atheist I find this chap...

Re: God/Higher Power

I am in my 14th week of sobriety. I don't not attribute any of it to a higher power. The concept still baffles me. I am told that the HP doesn't need to be GOD, that it can be anything, your AA group, the universe, even a door knob. Looking at the steps I don't see how this is possible. 5. Admitted...

Re: Such Unfortunates

I have read the BB cover to cover several times including studying for the steps with my sponsor and in a BB study at my home group. I don't find any of it inspirational or comforting. I smiled a bit when I read this, because I definitely got in moods like this (still do). Honestly, I think what ma...

Re: New to eAA

Hi Stewardess, Welcome! We are here and happy to have you here! When you mentioned wine, it made me think of one of my rationales when I was trying to control/justify my drinking. I typically drank mixed drinks or beer, but went through a stage of drinking wine. Why? Well, Jesus drank wine. If Jesus...
