Mental Illness and AA

Im doing this very personal share for those in the rooms who still feel that they don’t fit in because of depression or some other mental illness. I’m not going to bore you with my past as same was covered under my initial share under the heading “My Story”. I am going to jump right in to mental ill...

Re: One Week Sober Today!

Wow what an achievement. Every day without alcohol for an alcoholic is a good day. I remember when I was just getting sober. I was scared shirtless and I think it was that fear that I might fail again which kept me going until I worked the steps and made a deeper connection with my Creator. Good luc...

Re: Boyfriend couldn't balance me and recovery

Hi Daniella welcome and thank you for sharing your pain with us. Although it's true that we have to put our recovery first some addicts / alcoholics use that as an excuse. Dohs share is awesome and in my experience rare. Not every story have a happy ending. I had a wonderful husband who attended eve...

Re: MY STORY

Good morning, thank you for the responses. I tried through My story to show that you don't need to live on the street or become unemployable because of drinking to go through hardships and survive. I will still share at a later stage the last 3 years of my life but I do hope that anyone battling wit...

IT’S THE FIRST TIME THAT I SHARE ABOUT MYSELF IN A MORE DETAILED WAY ABOUT MY CHILDHOOD, PAST AND DRINKING DAYS. SO TODAY IM GOING TO TAKE YOU BACK TO 1 SEPTEMBER 2015 WHEN I WALKED THROUGH THE DOORS OF AA. WHEN I WAS LITTLE MY DAD HAD A VERY BAD ACCIDENT AT WORK. HE COULD NOT LONGER PERFORM HIS DUT...

Re: I don't know where to begin

Good morning and welcome. I feel your pain and hopelessness but although you say you cant attend local meetings as it will put your job in jeopardy my first piece of experience will be to suggest you attend a meeting. You need to remember that people don't attend meetings because they have nothing b...

Re: Steps 1, 2 & 3

Good morning and thank you very much for sharing your thoughts, ways and experience with us. My experience was different. Yes, right in the beginning I could hardly take in anything let alone understand anything but as my sobriety progressed I found it exceptionally interesting to find out exactly h...

Re: hallo everyone

Funny part is that I did not go to meetings. I isolated myself entirely. The only meeting I remember clearly was a spiritual meeting where I shared on what was happening to me and there was an elderly male named Patrick who admitted that what I was going through he had done to 3 women and destroyed ...
