Re: 24 hour Sobriety plan vs Permanent Sobriety

There are such unfortunates. They are not at fault; they seem to have been born that way. They are naturally incapable of grasping and developing a manner of living which demands rigorous honesty. Their chances are less than average. There are those, too, who suffer from grave emotional and mental ...

Re: Ok to step out of a service commitment?

Hello I am not anonymous. Service work provides many opportunities to find areas to inventory in ourselves. Especially if a form of resentment pops up. To be committed to your commitments is a choice. Choices have consequences and everything can be a learning experience. The more we change our perce...

I love sitting with Eckhart Tolle's youtube videos in my ears with ear buds or headphones.

I love his voice and speaking style.

Re: Fear

robbie109 We have no guarantee of sobriety. The Book even tells us there will probably come a time when you have no mental defense against the first drink. My life and sobriety depends on a Higher Power, turning it over in surrender on a daily basis. 1) My Life drunk and periods in sobriety shows me...

Re: Fear

robbie109 I'm not right, I am alcoholic. I've allowed my self-centered-ness to win the day also. I've also had to admit even after years in the program and working the steps that I did not grasp the full grips of this disease. And I am not saying I still understand anything fully. Now that you don't ...

Re: Fear

robbie109 Hello First I would ask. Do you want to be employed or want money to live at this time? If so go to work. If you let go of your employment are you then going to let go of your sobriety? Drinking over Christmas is a sign that your life has become unmanageable again and that you are powerles...

Re: Step Ten

It is funny how the book has step 6 & 7 covered in 2 paragraphs on page 76 (4th edition) I hear many times. "I'm working on my defects". I suggest many times that maybe you should start over at step 1 (44pages + Dr. opinion) and I get the weirdest looks. Just as we are powerless over alcohol we also...

eran Welcome. The beauty of the program of AA is it has one requirement for membership. 1) A desire to stop drinking. Everything else is just a suggestion to us in the grips of alcoholism. Since we could not summon up enough will power, we had to surrender to this simple program that suggests a spi...

Re: Sponsor homework I don't think I can do

rayvoo, Hello Maybe if you look at it this way, it will help. Under your own will power , what are the areas you were powerless and are still powerless today, left to your own devices. Let's say I drank over work stress when drinking. Today left to my own devices I would drink over work stress event...

Re: AA Preamble

Since you decided to make the announcement I think you should have said AA, so people know exactly what it is. You then could have added that it is not affiliated with the soup kitchen,so you feel aligned with the preamble. I applaud your effort and desire to not be affiliated with the soup kitchen.

Re: Second Time Around

Rafita/Rachel For us alcoholics there can be a great relief finally knowing we have been beat by king alcohol and have no choice but to surrender. Then to find out there is a solution, in the form of other alkies that have been also been beat by alcohol. You will find these people in meeting rooms a...

Re: Resentment towards myself

KathyAnne Hello Maybe the best suggestion I can make is to work with someone. If you have a sponsor or people you work the program with. Or people you work on Spirituality with. To me it sounds as if your trust in a HP is below your fear of peoples opinions. In my own program this is daily work. Thi...
