Re: Making amends

My question will be on the 2nd category of people. Are you in good relationship now? Are there is still friction and do you have to deal with them in your current day to day situations? I do not maintain relationships with mean people. I still encounter these type of people now and then but find it...

Re: Modem Step 4

From my own experience, a resentment that I hang on to, even if I had no part in, is a problem as I am still harboring this resentment. The fact that it is eating away at my soul and taking away from my peace and serenity is the problem. Once the resentment is gone from my mind, it can no longer har...

Re: Big Book hard to follow

I can certainly relate. I have only shared a few times in the 3 years I have been going to F2F meetings. Social anxiety has always plagued me and I have a really hard time telling a story. I am a very technical person and can tell someone how do do something by relaying logical step by step instruct...

Re: Not at rock bottom ..but asking questions

I don't agree with this statement, if you are enjoying anything in life, food, alcohol, sugar, exercise, gambling, sex, money, love, etc..., there is no reason to stop I believe that most people that come here are probably not really enjoying their drinking any more. I would agree that most people ...

Re: Unmanageability of step 1

Some excellent discussion here and why, although I do miss the F2F meetings, I find this online group a much better platform for discussions. I have had un-manageability in many areas of my life. Obsession with and consumption of alcohol became unmanageable at some point in my late 40s and I finally...

Re: Not at rock bottom ..but asking questions

Hello and welcome Lillibet, There are general survey questions and such, but it is really up to oneself to decide if alcohol has become a real problem in their life and they are willing to make a change. I enjoyed about 25 great years of a love affair with alcohol before I started hating the person ...

Re: How do I help my atheist sponsee?

While I am not an atheist, I still struggle with the concept of God.
There are several threads regarding this that may help. Here is one:

Re: Alcohol love/hate relationship

Hello and welcome corlan, I enjoyed about 25 great years of a love affair with alcohol before I started hating the person I had become when drinking alcohol. After 3 years of sobriety, it is still difficult for my mind not to associate alcohol with the best times of my life. I have to keep the memor...

Re: God/Higher Power

The author is dead. Anyone else that answers will be doing so with conjecture and/or opinion. The thoughts of other people can be valuable to an individual, but the bottom line always comes down to what the individual believes and thinks. My conjecture on the question is yes. What are your thoughts...

Re: God/Higher Power

I will post my question in a simpler way.

According to the BB, are the following 3 terms synonymous?
God
Higher Power
Creator

This is where I get confused.

Re: God/Higher Power

We are all able to change the words in the BB to suit our interpretation, but at some point it will defeat the purpose of the intent of the author. If the words cannot be taken literally from the BB, I would think that it should be changed. That however is a topic of great divisiveness among AAs. By...

Page 85 of the BB: "Every day is a day when we must carry the vision of God’s will into all of our activities. “How can I best serve Thee-Thy will (not mine) be done.” " Page 76 of the BB: "When ready, we say something like this: “My Creator, I am now willing that you should have all of me, good and...

Re: God/Higher Power

I too struggle with the conception of a HP. Does anyone have a good understanding, with respect to the BB, of the relationship between the different reference to "GOD" The Creator God Higher Power Do these references all mean the same entity? If the intent of the AA program is to serve God and the p...
