Re: Where are the educated alcoholics?

@Brock, could you please ask the baboon in chief to take a look at your (last) comment? And mine (first), if he doesn't get too tired reading 3 more paragraphs? I was about to keep my word and stop replying to any other attacks. But it's been such a shocking display of stupidity and dumb aggressivit...

Re: Where are the educated alcoholics?

Thank you, Brock, you said it way better than myself!

And now I'll stop answering to any negative comments here just because I appreciate what some of you guys do.

Cheers,
-C

Maybe that's the problem, stop "educating". Just make some decent conversation or help passing information.

Re: Where are the educated alcoholics?

Maybe if you read what you initially said... Please let it go. You've been the first one to make things up to insult me, starting with that "education shouldn't be a reason to make excuses on why you have an alcohol problem" (where in God's name I said anything like this?!!!). For all the fuzz n bu...

Re: Deplorables

The worst is when these men start talking about their exes- I've heard comments such as "the Expletive," "the slut" and the "money-grabbing whore." One gentleman in particular is very vocal about his ex, constantly talking her down for kicking him out of the house and calling her some very nasty th...

Re: So Far, Disappointed

It's interesting, but this is exactly what we should expect from 10-15 people with very different background and education, age and life experience, thrown together in a small room. And when many of them are not only alcoholics, but also drug addicts, or after jail time. Normal behavior rules cannot...

Re: Felt like a moron after my share today

As someone who didn't go so far in his drinking days, I must say some of the stories there shocked me as well. I felt both compassion and fear when the guy or the girl with that horrific story was staying just few feet from me. 1) I heard one teenager, after Court order with his mom there, talking a...

Re: race and culure

Brock thank you for the polite welcome. I think what I am curious about is how the recovering community feels about the hot button topics of privilege and intersectionality. For instance some could and will argue that as a white man perhaps I bear some historical resposibility for introducing alcoh...

Re: Where are the educated alcoholics?

My question had nothing to do with elitism or superiority. It was just about the perceived lack of diversity in a specific area. Someone could have asked as well about the lack of let's say uneducated people, or carpenters, or teenegers, or old women etc in his/her meetings... Why are you so quick t...

Where are the educated alcoholics?

Don't want to offend anyone, but I've been at several AA meetings this week and I think no one there, in three different groups, had a college degree. People are nice and I have nothing bad to say about anyone, but it will be hard to find someone like me if we don't speak the same language. One of m...
