Re: court cards

At my home group we do not sign court papers. I have not been a member long enough to know exactly why, but we are a small, pretty strict singleness of purpose group, and the general consensus seems to be that most people being forced there by the courts aren't serious, and there are enough real alc...

Re: Is AA membership declining?

I have noticed no decline in membership in my area, sometimes attendance to certain meetings will dwindle for a while, overall though I see nothing but more and more members in the rooms on average.

Re: Moral inventory comment...

Thanks everyone for the responses. At this time I'm not gonna do anything, if it happens to be brought up around that person again I'll say what I have to say, beyond that I'm just letting it go. And I can't say anything in particular stuck out to me in How it Works this time as opposed to other tim...

Moral inventory comment...

I was at a meeting the other day, the topic was complacency, this guy was commenting completely off-topic just ranting. He got on the subject of moral inventory at some point, and he said that in the book it says somewhere that you only have to write like four or five of your most glaring resentment...

Re: Plugging HA home group at AA meetings?

@tomsteve

I didn't include it in the OP because I wasn't aware that that wasn't standard procedure in other areas, I thought it was and therefore you guys would understand what I was talking about.

My bad, I now realize that's not as common as I thought it was, and I clarified in my next few posts.

Re: Plugging HA home group at AA meetings?

My home group has HA in the name, which makes it obvious it's not an AA meeting. I know my home group isn't Heroin Anonymous, lol.

I'm just asking because I honestly don't know what the rule of thumb is on it and I don't want to seem disrespectful towards AA or the people of the meeting.

Re: Plugging HA home group at AA meetings?

Thanks everyone.

I've been over why a few times now, but the main reason is because they explicitly ask for it.

Re: I'm scared I may be an alcoholic later in life.

You're the only one that can decide whether or not you're an alcoholic. Try reading the Doctor's Opinion and maybe a few personal stories from Part II: They Stopped In Time and see if you relate. Here's the link to those again http://www.aa.org/pages/en_US/alcoholics-anonymous Those stories really h...

Re: Plugging HA home group at AA meetings?

I understand singleness of purpose and stuff, I think you guys aren't fully grasping what I'm getting at here. I'm not talking about standing up and rambling on about HA, or even discussing it all during a meeting. I'm guessing in your areas they don't ask out of town guests to say what their home g...

Re: Plugging HA home group at AA meetings?

"Plug" in this context means basically give a shout-out to. Like the chairperson will ask "Any out of town guests want to stand up, introduce yourself, and plug your home group?" or some similar variation of that. As for the why I want to do it is for a few reasons, a big one being that they specifi...

Plugging HA home group at AA meetings?

Would this be considered poor etiquette? I like to go to a lot of out of town meetings to change things up a bit, but I'm never sure if I should plug my home group, which happens to be an HA meeting, when introducing myself at out of town AA meetings or not because although we use the Big Book it's ...
