Re: 20 Miles and a Meeting

Right now I am writing my heart out, painting, walking, yoga, garden. Pretty much anything I can to get myself moving because when I stop at 6pm I will let myself have a beer. I am in denial... The more I accept that the less I worry about my next drink. It seems like slow going right now. I have ne...

Re: Can someone who never ever drank claim they are an alcoh

I have never been to a closed meeting. However I did have one incident that made going to a meeting very nerve wrecking for a while. I was in my first month of sobriety and had had the worst morning. Lost my keys, spilled my coffee, was late for a lecture, my son was being a pain... the whole nine y...

20 Miles and a Meeting

I had fallen off the wagon way before the big move. I made it 97 days and roughly 14 hours before I had a beer in the comfort of my small apartment kitchen with the hesitant ok from my very always sober fiance after doing 30 days in rehab and 30+ days of home sobriety. It was a rapid increase of imb...

Rough Night

The screen is taunting me. It has been a rough day and now I am alone. Kids are asleep, fiancé is gone for work and I am super lonely. Thank the gods I have the big book and this forum to keep me sane.
Here is to tonight....

Re: I need help.

Those days are not far behind me. I hope you find what you are looking for. I hope even more so that you have found a starting point within the fellowship, it works for those who are willing to work for it.
The bottom is sometimes the most difficult to acknowledge.
Sending hope and love your way.

Re: personalities in the rooms

I left AA 3 years ago and I believe this stuff had something to do with it. I remember that after a while these jerks were undermining everything I said. I didn't quite make a year before I went out last time. Problem is that on my own I cannot get past 2 days when I try and quit or slow down. I ha...

Re: Feeling alone on the meetings

It still takes a lot for me to speak up in meetings, before or after. I have a weird personality and feel beyond awkward in most meetings. The only thing that has me coming back is knowing in thirty five days I have been to a 30 day treatment facility and begun attending meetings, in that thirty fiv...

Re: Struggling with self control

Hello Ed, I hope this reply sees you in health and maybe even sobriety. One thing I have always taken away from a meeting is that I, we, as alcoholics cannot do this alone. If we could we would be sober by now. The fellowship is here to love you when you cant love your self and give you strength whe...

Re: no ultimatums

This sounds like a very sensitive time in your relationship and the only words of help I can offer would be an echo of the al-anon suggestion. That, I think, would help you understand how you want to handle your relationship and your future.
Good luck,
Nichole

Re: I finally did it

Welcome dear friend! I will keep you in my prayers and meditations. Things can get really ugly in early sobriety but in the short thirty days I have I do know that this program will work if one works it right. The first thirty days has felt like a whirlwind of cheesy and cliché positive affirmations...

Thirty One Days and a Message Board

Hello. My name is Nichole and I am an alcoholic with 31 days of sobriety. The program has been in and out of my life in the back ground for as long as I can remember. I always had friends whose parents attended meetings and soon my friends themselves followed that path taking me with them. Now here ...

Re: Hi. My name is Merl and I'm an alcoholic

Hi Merl! I am new to this program and the forums and the whole shebang as well and I think your introduction was splendid. Well done. I hope you find what you are looking for and continue to enjoy the perks of sobriety. I celebrated thirty days yesterday and I remember those first three to five days...
