Re: More Unity, less Conflict

I hope you do not mean people can't disagree with each other here in a civilized respectful manner. Nope...was not implying that at all. Great - thanks for the clarification. While I'm fairly new to this board I have been a regular visitor/participant on many internet discussion boards over the las...

Re: More Unity, less Conflict

I hope you do not mean people can't disagree with each other here in a civilized respectful manner. One of my drinking behaviors was to not argue when I disagreed with others. Instead I would reach for a drink and bury my thoughts/opinions. Thus, I find respectful conflict resolution when disagreeme...

Re: e-aa.org relationship wth aa.org

Ok this is helpful. Thanks. Based on what I see here there is a connection between AA.org and this website. Let me explain what motivated this question. How would you respond to a Sponsor who said that I should not be looking on line for recovery and should concentrate on the local meetings instead?...

e-aa.org relationship wth aa.org

Is this site the officially sanctioned AA website for recovery discussions? How is e-aa.org supported financially?

Re: Can / Are you people doing the 12 Steps online

Chance As a relative newcomer to this board I have seen several "Can I do this w/o FTF meetings?" and "Can I do this w/o a traditional FTF sponsor?" threads. I think the most accurate answer is we really do not know. Some people are the "90 meetings in 90 days" and "sponsor, sponsor, sponsor" crowd....

Re: Meetings

Hi Fairisle. Thanks for the post. The fact that you admitted to having a problem with alcohol is a great start. Here are a couple of ideas for your consideration. In your original post you mention that you are often hungover and sick. You also mention that you are concerned about being seen at an AA...

Re: Hi. My name is Merl and I'm an alcoholic

Merl - Peter the alcoholic here. Great shares. Thanks. I'm not far ahead of you with 15 days now. This whole thread has been very positive and it really makes me feel good about being here. Regarding your first meeting tomorrow. Not a big deal at all. At least not for me. I have done 4 so far. But I...

Re: personalities in the rooms

Thanks everyone for the comments. I have calmed down and believe it is not a good idea to confront said persons during, before, or after a meeting. After writing to the board I read through a few of the newcomer boards and a few of the others on recovery page and realized this is almost as good as ...

Re: personalities in the rooms

Perhaps this will help you to better tolerate others who annoy you. Years ago I was frustrated with a vendor at work for not delivering what was promised. I was venting to some of my co-workers and one of them simply said something like this: Just remember that by definition half the population is b...
