Re: Would this be a valid upset or a resentment?
Similar situation. In my early sobriety a private conversation was overheard and repeated. I was angry until I realised my anger stemmed from embarrassment that my judgemental nature had been laid bare. Added judgemental to my defects list and worked on that. Glad now that the situation arose.

Re: Helping physical craving in early days
Hi Noels, I found the 'Living Sober" booklet a very useful and powerful tool to use in early sobriety. It along with the 'Just for Today' card gave me a solid foundation on a daily basis to move forward to a point where my head cleared enough to start working through the steps with another alcoholic...

Re: is there a place for me here?
Welcome Malinche, If alcohol has cost you more than money then you have earned your seat at the AA table!!! Please don't allow any man, woman or concept to deny you your rightful place in the fellowship. Having been homeless for a period before entering AA my first Higher Power was the electric heat...

Re: doing it dishonestly
Hey porcupine, progress!
Becoming self aware of how damaged my thinking was enabled me (with the help of AA friends) to reboot this old brain into a new way of thinking. Took time and effort but the rewards are great and tangible in my life today.

Re: Don't know where to start..
Welcome missyellow, for me there were two parts to my start. (1), Thought. (2), Action. My thinking fully accepted that 'I was powerless over alcohol and that my life was unmanageable'. My action was to get to an AA meeting where I heard others who had been where I was (and I could identify with) ex...

Fear of falling into another addiction trap is a strong motivator for some to abstain completely. Others however feel safe ...

Re: 100 days and struggling
Hi Mudruck, Regular contact and work with a sponsor was essential in keeping my old head on track and quiet. Maybe time to find another sponsor who can spend the time with you that you need right now.
Best wishes my friend.

Re: New member
Welcome Paul, Great that you are reaching out and have recognised that merely not drinking is not the solution to what ails us. In the fellowship of AA I met folks who had been where I was and they had a solution to what ailed me. They shared the simple solution with me, which I grasped onto with fe...

Re: Merl's sobriety travels
Yes Merl, feeling at home in a regular meeting is familiar to me. Also strangely enough even walking through the door of a new (to me) meeting I get that same feeling. When I got sober two of my boys worked and lived in Cork and Kerry. I spent a fair bit of time travelling those two counties. Strang...
