Re: Start A Step Group - Please Help!

You can go to a meeting and everyone is working on different steps anyways when they ask who would like to share let them know what step you are working on and can give you feedback

Re: To Thine Own Self?

If someone ask then they should know when they do AA that people dont usually judge other people if they are self consious about doing AA and are helping each other

Re: Feeling Discouraged

Re: 4th Step... Guilt... Self-Forgiveness?

I have to practice and work with my sponsor because without her that I wont be able to get over my feelings of guilt. I think that it has to take a lot of time especially when I try to work through the steps and traditions as fast as I can and get my sponsees to do the same since I get more from goi...

Re: I relapsed....do I rework the steps?

You don't have to rework the steps if you attend a meeting you can start on whatever step the group is doing or you can find a sponsor and 'rework' them that way. Since my sponsor had me work the steps by myself first then shared only the one that that I was on depending on how far I was in my stepw...

Re: Still confused

I think that as a newcomer that it is okay to still be confused. I started my meetings the same way and at first thought to myself why do I even bother to go, but it took me at least 10 meetings to actually started understanding how things worked because the people there were regulars there and had ...

Re: AA Tolerance

I think that even if you dont attend any meetings that it is still AA, but some people might say that the whole point is to get a sponsor and hear other success stories and to help others who want to live sober. Meetings help me more because if I were to just read from the books that I have no one t...

Re: newbie with a question

AA to me doesn't have to do with religion but if you go to a step meeting or a book study meeting they aren't as spiritual as a regular meeting or a meditation meeting if you aren't looking to sit and listen to the spiritual part of AA. I think that AA meetings use religion to help to with thinking ...

Re: Feeling Discouraged

And also me and my sponsor shared a lot at the last meeting and a lot of people thought that it was inspiring that we spend so much time with each other outside meetings and how much we talk on the phone and she doesn't mind that her sponsees like to spend a lot of time calling her and working on st...

Re: Feeling Discouraged

Okay, by the time me and my sponsor got to the meeting we found out that we are supposed to be on the 7th step which states that we 'Humbly asked Him to remove our shortscomings.' And also have talked with others at our group and have said that they haven't been able to go to that many meetings eith...

Re: Feeling Discouraged

Yes that is exactly how I am feeling like all my hours in my day is gping to waste and am afraid that soon I am going to drink. I am going to be on my way to a meeting today with my sponsor but only can stay for one. I also haven't even been able to even read any of the steps which I usually read fr...

Re: Just making a list for my 4th step... Fears

When I feel afraid of people and do things to avoid them, for some reason they always stop me and talk to me like when I met my sponsor, I was afraid to have conversations with her, but she kept coming to me just to ask how things were going. And when I went to meetings I didn't want to seem like th...

Re: Higher Power

I personally don't think that you have to be religious to be a part of AA, at one of my recent meetings, a lot of people revealed that they were atheist when they first entered AA and that AA taught them to believe in God as their higher power. If you read the Big Book it tells you how people have r...
