Re: Conflict with fellows (?)

Powerless over people, places and things! I hate it and I would suggest not to hide from your life as it is yours. If you have a sponsor I'd recommend there views and work the steps and pray for peace with yourself and the angry party. Just don't drink over this because it is not worth it and they wi...

Re: Difficult when it’s all around you

Go to other meetings as they provide other opinions and sobriety levels. Finding ways to have fun, fit in and or just not be awkward is kind of hard at least for me. I'd go to NASCAR venues and everyone is trashed and acting stupid. For me I'd just enjoy the race and separate myself from them. But o...

Re: When Instincts Exceed Their Purpose

I attended this meeting and the chair claimed 10 years sober and yet they had no back ground of AA and the intended purposes of sobriety. What that meeting reminded me of was I should not that no I am cured and my past is a drink away if I slack up.

Re: AA While Serving in the Military

Welcome and do your part in rehab. I went to rehab in 1990 in Oaknoll medical. I was in the Navy and had been overseas for many years and had to change life. Back in those days life was not as micro managed as it is now. One messup and you are out! I went back overseas and spent 7 years sober and at...

Re: Trusting a Sponsor

You mentioned concerns over trust and confidentiality with your past.....So if I use the example that other members who did the 4th & 5th steps they also took the risk of not knowing whether they had to do damage control the coming days in your community. Having a sponsor who is actively being spons...

Re: The Fellowship and Hard Times

Many years ago my wife had a sponsor who was always busy as she was once heavy into booze and drugs as was her sister and mother. Well eventually my wife changed sponsors as we do in growth of AA. Her ex sponsor was always chocked full of things in a day. I had stopped in a shop one day and was just...

Re: I'm back to working it.

Hello. Shelly here. I am an alcoholic who definitely needs to be here. I cannot believe that I relapsed and fell back into hell. Love to everyone here. I have should'a, would'a could'a regrets. Scared but more afraid of dying. I am going to go to a meeting today after too many years away, thinking ...

Re: I drink a lot

Have you considered going to an inpatient rehab? I know the feeling about that wall and no hope of getting out. AA will work and if you just keep coming back it will start making sense and those are truthful promises.

Re: Dad and brother "relapsed" over Christmas

I guess you hope to fix this and you can't as they made decisions to relapse and all you can do is take care of yourself and try and not let them live in your head rent free. <-----Hard to do and with practice you can achieve sanity.

Re: Alcohol and trying to conceive - hubby driving me crazy!

So to cut a long story short i have been sober for 9 weeks now and would like to start trying for family. My hubby wants to wait until i am sober for 6 months before trying as i have in the past not been good at keeping promises regarding my drinking. I just think he is being unreasonable as i feel...
