Re: Questions Heard At Meetings.

I think if the members stop whining and moaning but share how they solved their issues using the program that will be powerful and show the world that this program is about leading a fruitful life. That's one opinion. Another is that this Fellowship is about getting sober and helping other alcoholi...

Re: My wife's drinking is worrying me

it reads like the person with the problem of her drinking isnt her but you, so another vote for al anon for ya. it helped me tremendously- NOT to get the alcoholic in my life sober but to help me learn how to set boundaries and a learn even more about myself.

Re: Questions Heard At Meetings.

Can our lives improve from certain types of jealousy, for example jealousy of those doing ‘better’ in the program than we are? i think it depends. jealousy of something others have that i want and can work for it? not bad. jealousy of something others have that i cant have? not good. however, if im...

Re: Is it required to be a Sponsor

an often overlooked little part in the BB: None of us makes a sole vocation of this work(carrying the message), nor do we think its effectiveness would be increased if we did. We feel that elimination of our drinking is but a beginning. A much more important demonstration of our principles lies befo...

Re: Removing defects of character?

So, its full of contradictions. One minute the BB says remove the defects of character then Joe & Charlie say replace with the opposite? is the BB full of contradictions or is it the opinions of joe and charlie that contradict the BB? notice in this statement: Because you see, God can’t take away M...

Re: Removing defects of character?

I have just been in a discussion with someone who said that the program is not about removing the defects of character as they are intrinsic to humans. The program makes you aware of them & gives you the choice to act upon them or not. I was under the impression that the program does remove them as...

Re: Drunk dreams are getting worse

I have almost nine years of sobriety. For the first four years I was gung ho about AA. I chaired meetings, sponsored people, volunteered all the time to be the coffee person at meetings, etc. Then my life got very full. I'm married with a 6-year-old son and a mortgage, and am working full time, so ...

I've lost my zeal to attend meetings, or speak with my sponsor and other AA’s, how do I get out of this slump?

Re: Step 3 & handing over my problems

For my entire life I have been trying to fix things & problems but could never handle the pressure. The serenity prayer has helped me a little by understanding what I can & cant change but I am still left with this worry all the time when things happen. I guess the underlying defect to this worry i...

Re: Relapse waiting to happen

Not one person I have sponsored has stayed sober or stuck around. I was beginning to feel like Im not doing it right. But I have, so I am grateful nothin unique there, chelle. theres one major way to know youre doing it right- YOU stay sober. it doesnt matter how i carry the message or how much tim...

Re: Relapse waiting to happen

Im curious what you all do when you are watching a sponsee on their way to a relapse? I am sponsoring a girl that gets a little time under her belt, starts missing meeting, and hits a snag and drinks. Shes on her 9th step. She text yesterday that she wouldn't be at the meeting, but would be there t...
