Re: Tradition five

I love AA history. My sponsor said it was part of recovery. For me it puts things in context. How did these things happen, just out of the blue? One example - Bill, Ebby, Roland and Lois where together at a children's camp when they were teenagers. One other fact that for me is amazing-non-alcoholic...

Re: sick and tired... again

Ah Tosh,I do know why I am an alcoholic. At a meeting years ago an old timer got tired of this debate and told us all that he would tell us why if we would stop the debate. We agreed. He then made this pronouncement-"your mother had square nipples" now work on the next step and be quiet. Worked for ...

Re: sick and tired... again

Folks I apologize for making this a debate. It is just nice to have a discussion that is sane and respectful. My point to march was that all those things she is feeling will be removed as she gets sober. Not before. 13 years proves she can!!

Re: sick and tired... again

So then did all those things make you an alcoholic? Or are those things the result of your alcoholism? I am not responsible for my alcoholism, I am accountable, however. If I Think the problem is me, I also think I am the solution.

Re: sick and tired... again

Yes and I think that way because I am an alcoholic. Not for any other reason. I don't want to make this a word game, but I did not get me sober God did. I was, am and always will be powerless.

Re: sick and tired... again

Lets not forget folks. March said she was sober 13 years and relapsed. No one is too sick to get sober or too insane. Do you have the capacity to be honest? If so step 1 the problem step 2 the solution step 3 get out of the way and then begin a course of vigorous action steps 4 thru 9. In spite of f...

Re: sick and tired... again

March, you need to take "you" out of the picture. The problem here is alcoholism. You keep trying to fix you, won't work. You have a spiritual malady, once treated the physical and mental part clears up. It sounds like you want to get better so you can get sober. That's backassward. Follow the steps...

Re: sponsor question

The book also tells us to be careful about that reliance ,at first we may come up with some absurd ideas. That was my experience in the beginning. I have refrained from comment on this because I feel I don't have a crucial piece of info-why would her sponsor give this kind of advise?

Re: My Addict Famly Member... PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you mad at her for telling you the truth? Part of recovery is being honest. How ever honesty with out compassion is cruel. So not being part of the conversion I only have your side. By your own admission, you play fast and loose with the truth. No matter how thin the pancake it still has two side...

Re: My sponsor is dropping me

Keep working on Step 4. Go to a meeting and tell them you need a person to help you finish the steps. Look around and see if there is some one who's recovery you respect. Either one will move you along. His reasons are his reasons let it go. You will be ok with out him. Hope he gets his head together.

Re: buried a friend last week

So sad. My wife and I have seen several friends die in the last couple of months. Both thought they had another chance at recovery after many slips. My wife and I have been sober from our first meetings. Some times I worry about what seems to me an acceptance of slips as just part of the deal. This ...
