Re: My life is a major disappointment

Hang in there. If you stack up days sober, you have a chance to get that better life.

The Promises in the Big Book will come to pass.

If you could have seen me on day one, you would have bet I would be drunk in a week. But I made it with my HP and AA friends.

Best wishes

Re: Young people attending meetings

You may be by a year or two.

One thing for sure, you will hear a message of hope and will be accepted.

More and more young people are coming in.

I am very happy for you on deciding to save your own ass at a young age!

Re: coming back

Why is this happening after 2+ years of sobriety? Well, you already answered this question in your post above. In two years you have only worked 3 steps. The A.A. programme IS the 12 steps. If you don't do them and live them as described plainly in the Big Book, then all that you've been doing is "...

Re: coming back

Lots of pitty party stuff going on here. Whatever crappy situation you are in, just add a long drunk to it to make it worse. We drink because we want to. It is not a relapse. Cancer patients have a relapse. It comes back against their will. We drink because we want to. When the pain of drinking beco...

Re: Sobriety changes

When you stopped drinking. Regardless of program or anything else. If a person sobers up through church or some other program, which AA does agree there are other ways to get sober... They call a sobriety date based on something other than our program. Sober is sober. I would not worry about it too ...

Re: coming back

First, welcome back! I would say that maybe prosperity is the toughest think for a drunk. It is weird! Most of us do not know how to handle this new thing. It is just a simple program, and you know how it works. No mystery. I would even say it is not so important to freak on why you drank, but to sp...

Re: My sponsor is making me uncomfortable

That just sounds so bizarre.

I have met some people in AA that I thought were strange, but your sponsor sounds insane!

I would say to pray/consult your higher power and maybe look for a new sponsor. But we are only hearing your side of the story to be fair.

Re: Issue brought to Roundup Commitee..feedback requested

Seeking out booty does to make a person a predator. To call someone a predator without the conviction of a crime is potentially cause for a civil suit, them against you! You can't just call people criminal for seeking dates or sex with willing people. It seems like a common sense thing. If he or a s...

Re: I don't like the person I've become

Welcome. I hope you find some people to talk with here. I like face to face meetings myself for the most part. It is a balance. It is nice to pop in online and get a moment of encouragement. I felt it was time for a change. Went to meetings and found people that had made the changes I desired and le...

Re: Sponsorship Difficulties w/ Step 4

If you are too "high functioning" to listen to anyone or anything yet, maybe you need to try some controlled drinking to help you decide if you are REALLY an alcoholic or not. I realize your intentions are good, but suggesting an alcoholic go and drink is a terrible idea. How would you feel if they...

Re: Spontaneous Recovery in Alkies

I have no issues with people that claim whatever kind of recovery they want. I only worry about my recovery. I also reserve the right to know that not everyone that comes to an AA meeting is the same type of hopeless alcoholic I was. So I can reserve the right to say yay for you but not for me. So ...

Re: Sponsorship Difficulties w/ Step 4

Good question... I guess I abhor busy work--that which is done for the sake of doing it. I resent jumping through hoops... There's something I can work on! You are finding something. It appears you think you are above it. That is a thing. Not being critical in an insulting way if you please, it may...

Re: Spontaneous Recovery in Alkies

I have no issues with people that claim whatever kind of recovery they want. I only worry about my recovery. My utter bankruptcy as a person. I needed AA and the total change of it. I also reserve the right to know that not everyone that comes to an AA meeting is the same type of hopeless alcoholic ...

Re: Sponsorship Difficulties w/ Step 4

So you are quite intelligent. You control your drinking to the point you function at a very high level still. You have your life under control, already working the steps. You have dealt with the damage of the past. Your inventory should be short and easy. Why so much complaining about doing it? Just...
