1.Secretary's Report-
Group Secretary's report - May
Former Group Secretary Chris, resigned early in May.
As Alternate Group Secretary, I stepped up to become the Group Secretary by default.
This left the Alternate Group Secretary vacant. A request was made for a person with experience in the vacant role to fill the role. Pam offered her self to serve the group. As Group Secretary, right of decision was exercised to have Pam fill the role until the role could be filled with group support.
Other group business:
- Ian was confirmed as the Email Coordinator - this completed business started during Chris's term.
- Call for nominations for Alternate Group Secretary - one candidate only, Pam was confirmed by popular support and no objections.
- The vacant Alt(/co)-treasurer role was discussed with the position being re advertised. No nominations were made.
- The group was offered the opportunity to discuss if an Alt-treasurer is needed, no discussion occurred. The Alt(/co)-treasurer role remains vacant.
- The chatroom and its logging were discussed and details presented about how the software functions, concerns were heard regarding the logging.
- A question was asked regarding the functioning of the Chat Committee, I noted that I believe this list is currently functioning within its remit to the group, to ensure smooth operation of the Chatroom and conduct orderly meetings.
- a question was asked regarding the Ad Hoc committee that was set up to discuss Chat software options. The Adhoc email list was asked to revitalise that discussion on the list - including Ad Hoc committee chair is needed, an agenda and a date to report back be set.
- Discussion occurred regarding some personal behaviours. This generated much discussion. Requests were made to keep that discussion on a principals basis rather than a personalities based discussion. Much comment was generated including people sharing concerns about the appropriateness of the discussion to the e-AA Business (Members) list and creating space, such that members respect the right of others to express their experiences.
- Joe stepped up to regularly post group member anniversaries, allowing us to commemorate those achievements.
- Bonnie as Listkeeper carried out a house cleaning on the Members list to remove inactive email addresses. Refer Bonnie's Listkeeping report for additional details, as the removal of inactive email addresses was actioned across all e-AA email lists.
Thank-you for the opportunity to serve.
Regards,
Russell, Group Secretary.
2. Treasuers Report
Hi, everyone. Ketra, alcoholic and e-aa treasurer. Still wondering
what you people were
thinking when you picked me for this job but doing my part to put the
FUN in funds.
Here's the May report:
1193.89 opening bal. for the month
326.55 contributions
-265.96 expenses (see attached .pdf for breakdown)
1254.48 balance
This month we collected $60.59 over our expenses bringing the
checkbook balance to
1254.48: 54.48 above our prudent reserve. Way to go, peeps!
A couple administrative notes:
The literature committee and Grapevine giveaway have been working out
best practices now
that the treasurer (me) doesn't handle the actual group shopping. As
such, we're doing a
quarterly payment for Grapevine giveaway and aggregated reimbursement
of book purchases
upon request. The fluidity in service to the group and our fellow
sufferers is great but
may mean bumps up or down in expenses over any given period of time.
We'll see. If it's
a problem we'll deal with it, but so far, so good.
To contribute we have two ways we pass the basket:
One is Paypal, an online secure method to contribute funds using your
paypal account or a
credit card. To use Paypal, you can start at the e-AA webpage here:
http://www.e-aa.org/group_seventh.php
Or mail a check payable to "The e-AA Group" and use this address:

3. Chat Room Report
606 individual logins for the month of May a number being multiple login names
Janice has stepped back up, as admin2 after a brief rest, welcome back Janice.
Our usual greeters/chair meeting was held in chat, for sharing of
information, with new greeters and or chairs. It was well attended.
Our meetings are running smoothly, There are many new chatters to the rooms,
from various countries throughout the world. Many are grateful, to
have meetings in their time zones, in comparison to before, when they were only
in USA time zones.
We have 2 meetings on Tuesday, Friday with guest speakers
and question time specifically for newer members to AA.
Our Beginners/Meeting/Workshop has had excellent facilitators, and
are well attended, thank you for your hard work on this meeting.
Average in logs per day is around 900 K
Committee discussions this month:
-The face of our chat rooms, how do we present e AA
-Other minor irritations that many other AA based chatrooms are now facing daily.

4. Discussion Forums Report
The forums are running smoothly with no changes to report.
5. Email Meeting Report
I am happy to report that most email meetings are going well. Karl is secretary of the 12&12 meeting, and Juanita is secretary of the women's meeting.
We've just had the roll-call and subsequent purge of inactive accounts, so can have a clearer idea of what's happening and how many are really in each meeting.
The email committee (the email meeting secretaries, greeters and listkeepers comprise the email committee) are gathered to consider what we're doing.
We're actively considering the structure and format of the NB and Men's email meetings.
If anyone is interested in being a secretary or greeter of an email meeting, please contact me. Volunteers are needed!
In service,
Ian S
e-AA Email Meeting Coordinator
6. 12 Step Committee Report
Hi Folks!
Another busy month on the 12-step email list. We are having a steady
flow of incoming requests for help. Most of the responses are timely
but I think we are a little short in the number of responses going
out. I think we can really improve this with a little of your help.
If you don't mind sharing your experience with a struggling alcoholic
via email once or twice per week - please contact the @lists and ask
to be subbed to the 12th step email list.
In service,
Alex

Big Book Project
The e-AA Group offers Big Books (free and anonymously) to those people joining us who don't have one and who have a financial need. Thanks to your 7th Tradition Contributions, we have been able to continue this outreach effort in May.
We had the least number of requests this reporting period since I have been the Chair of this committee.
We sent the following Big Books in May:
Jan G. heard about the Big Book offer from email meetings and the chat room
Candice H. picked the offer up on a Google search (this is under discussion in the Literature Committee as of this writing)
Karen G. is a new member of Women's and heard about the offer through the Women's outreach.
We currently have several Big Book requests "in the pipeline" for June.
A reminder about Big Books: If you are the Secretary or a Greeter of one of our email meetings, on the forums, or just a member interested in helping us spread the message, please offer a free Big Book to those newcomers joining us here at e-AA.
Our Stories
The Literature Committee posted two new stories this month!! Thank you to Geoff and Kelly for your service. If you have not had a chance to read these stories, please go to http://e-aa.org/group_stories.php where you will find them.
If you - or someone you know - would like to tell your story, contact the Literature Committee. We do not currently have any stories in the works for June.
In service,
Trish2 and the Literature Committee
10. Intergroup Report
May was a relatively quiet month on OIAA-our committee members have been hard at work
and we are working on yearly elections.
We are now just 12 months way from our next international convention-San Antonio, TX, USA, June 2010-the registration info will be available in early fall this year on OIAA and AA websites.
I urge all of you to try to attend-there is magic in the air and a tremendous sense of *Yes We Can- it works*-when you are amongst thousands of recovering people.
Respectfully submitted,
Sally
OIAA rep
